Greeni has covered the main BR ballast hoppers with his Seacow and Dog/Catfish, while the HTO/HTV was for many years the BR standard for coal traffic. The Merry-go-round principle can be recreated using the excellent HAA and variants from either Pikka or Snowsignal/Railwaves, but remember these ran in block trains of 30-35 wagons! Many of the private-owner types here ran only on certain traffic circuits (and again in block trains), but the EWS HTA can be seen in many parts of the UK.
