Note ID: 828
Date Added: 18/04/2021 21:56
Added by: Nat37670
Relates to: Fleet news of 16/04/2021 - Passenger Stock Disposals
Category: Other/General
Note text: Definitely a huge amount of passenger stock gone to the scrapyard over the last two years. The 14x Pacer fleets have fallen foul of PRM requirements (Person of Reduced Mobility). Stock is now required to have retention tank fitted toilets and slam doors are no longer permitted. The age of most of this stock saw modifications not worth while. The last time scrapping levels were this high was probably back around 2002-4 when the southern region 3rd rail slam door EMUs were being withdrawn, the West Coast loco hauled fleets and various overhead EMUs, class 303/312 etc.
