The Emergency Response Unit fleet was restocked with five new Volvo FL demountable lorries in 1998, and these have been well illustrated on this site. However, this is the first photo to show the rear-end with the tail-lift in the lowered position. As normal with demountable vehicles, the tail-lift was chassis-mounted and folded out when required. The bodies were the same as used on the previous generation of vehicles, with modifications to allow for the larger wheels on the Volvos, and with a new livery style. This photo was taken at the rear of the Museum Depot building in Acton, and also shows the side lockers opened, and the translucent roof panels The train in the background is stabled at the south end of Ealing Common District Line depot.
