Another excellent photo of a preserved service vehicle, this being Bedford CALV ambulance 1532B. It was caught passing through Crawley on the 1st of May 2016 while taking part in the HCVS London to Brighton run. 1532B was one of two ambulances owned by London Transport for use at their largest works, Aldenham and Chiswick, with 1532B being based at the latter. It was withdrawn with the run-down of Chiswick Works in the mid-1980s and was sold in 1985. Not seen for many years, it returned in fully restored condition in 2013 (as seen at Brooklands). I have always listed these two ambulances as having been in a white livery, though it looks distinctly cream in this photo, and is recorded as such by the DVLA. Compared to when it was in service, the wing mirrors have been moved from the bonnet to the windscreen pillars, and the beading low down on the nearside (visible here and possibly a repair job) has been replaced with plain panelling.
