Note ID: 3953
Date Added: 02/01/2023 17:45
Added by: Thomas Young
Relates to: Batch STS86050-STS86062
Category: Renumbering
Note text: Rail Enthusiast magazine (February 1987 edition) reported that STS86055/60/62 were renumbered to 83.70.7891.000-002 respectively, for use carrying compressed gases between France and Haverton Hill. Modern PO Wagons (Ratcliffe 1989) states that they were hired to ICI, but adds that by 1987 all 13 tanks (in the 86050-86062 batch) had reverted to vinyl chloride traffic, albeit now with ICI instead of BP Chemicals. Although not stated, can it be inferred that the 3 renumbered wagons reverted back to their original numbers at this time?
