| Review: | UPDate is the quarterly magazine for members of the society known as DEMU (Diesel and Electric Modellers United). The subject matter varies from issue to issue but there is usually some freight-related content. Articles are split between product reviews, prototype information and modelling projects, and there are often drawings of rolling stock. Many of the members of DEMU are real wagon experts and some of the best articles are theirs, including a multi-part study of PGA hoppers (with numerous diagrams and photographs). Similarly detailed articles have looked at subjects such as track, overhead line equipment and various locos, coaches and wagons. The magazine is available by subscription only, although membership also gives you access to an on-line forum and resources. |
