Category: Overview
This batch of wagons was not new-build but was renumbered from ESSO wagons in 1979. The 50 wagons were for stand-by use to supply fuel oil to coal-fired power stations for starting purposes in case of emergency. All seem to have been withdrawn in the second-half of the 1980s. TOPS code may have been TSV or TSF, design code not known. Former numbers are not known, though Huw Millington has a photo of ESSO43612 (this number still painted on ends and sides) captioned as being CEGB48525. He also has ESSO43923 captioned as CEGB48457, perhaps an error for CEGB48547?
